Weekly Notable News Update

Dear Parents,

As we begin Holy Week, let us remember the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. I wish all of you a beautiful Easter Day.

Thank you for your generous Lenten Mission donations of baby products!

Our Life Skill is Patience. We will be discussing and reading about the importance of waiting our turn with patience and grace.

In Math Chapter 11 (2-digit addition) students will need to know all math fact families. (Chapter 11 includes addition with regrouping and without regrouping). Please continue to practice addition and subtraction fact families 5-15. All students should have committed to memory addition and subtraction fact families 0-12.  Please use some of the links on my webpage list for Math fact practice. Flashcards are a great resource as well. Weekly timed drills and one on one assessments will continue. Please practice time to the half hour and hour on a dial face clock, and recognizing coins, counting coins and trading equivalent coin values to $ 2.00.

In Reading we will continue working in Unit 13. Please practice Unit 13 vocabulary words on Seesaw to help your child read them fluently.  Students will record the 13A video this Wednesday.  As your child is practicing reading orally for fluency, please increase pace and expression. Stop to discuss the events to increase comprehension of the material read. Each week the comprehension component is becoming more challenging. Practice makes progress!!
The unit 13a Spelling test will be on Thursday. Please study.

Accelerated Reading (AR) quizzes are part of weekly homework. Please remember to include a completed AR form and the quiz number for each quiz. (See link).   Regardless of the number of AR points earned, ALL students are required to take 2 AR quizzes each week. All progress needs to be tracked by parents on the AR website.

This amazing progress is a direct reflection on your support and dedication to your child's progress in reading development. Pleasure reading provides golden opportunities to instill a love for reading and increase a variety of skills (comprehension, vocabulary, phonics, fluency, spelling, and writing). The more students read, the better they read, spell, and write.

As primary educators, parents are asked to insist on neat work. Your child's finest effort is expected on all work including homework (coloring, printing, cutting etc.).  PLEASE REVIEW YOUR CHILD'S HOMEWORK. Sign or initial the Homework planner upon completion and review of your child's homework.

Please review all graded papers in the Weekly Folder. This work indicates progress, growth, and areas needing improvement. Sign and return any papers requiring a signature. Thank you.
