| SECOND GRADE WEEKLY NEWS |
- I am truly honored and blessed to have such wonderful parents like you! Thank you all so much for the baby shower gifts! I am so grateful for your kindness and generosity that you have shown!
- Also, thank you to Mrs. Uribe, Mr. and Mrs. Sotuyo, and Mr. Edwards for setting up our Valentine's Day Breakfast after Mass! What a lovely surprise!
|
- If you have not yet turned in your T-Shirt order form for your child, please make sure it is submitted by February 20.
|
- I am very proud of the student's AR progress! Many have met their goal and chose a new one. Please continue to instill this love of reading. It's a direct reflection of you!
- Remember, a minimum of two ARs should be taken during the week, unless your child is reading a chapter book.
|
- The annual Go Writer's PBS Story Contest forms were handed out last week. Our school has always been represented well in this contest.
- Please make sure to follow the guidelines for Second Grade: 100-350 words and at least 5 pictures. Please add the word count and title.
- Your child may choose to type the story. Please assist them in typing!
- Remember, this assignment is mandatory. Parental assistance is highly encouraged, but should be in the tone of a Second Grade student.
- The completed story and PBS Entry Form are due no later than Friday, March 6.
|
- In March, the school will be reading The Eyes and the Impossible. Please have that book turned in by Friday, February 20.
|
- Please encourage printing effort on all assignments, homework, classwork, quizzes, and tests.
- It is so important to instill great practices of handwriting effort to show pride in schoolwork.
|
- School sweaters are mandatory on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
- PE sweatshirts and sweatpants are mandatory on Tuesday and Thursday.
|
- In Math, we are continuously working on triple digit subtraction with and without regrouping. To make this transition easier, your child should be practicing math facts at home through 20.
- Limit counting on fingers.
- Please use Freckle, IXL, or math flash cards to ensure math fact fluency.
|
- Homework completed at home should reflect your child's best work. Printing should be neat as if your child was completing it in school.
- As your child's primary educator, please insist on neat work. Please ensure that no food, drinks, or oils are near homework. This is to promote the quality of the work at home.
