SECOND GRADE WEEKLY NEWS
  • I truly want to thank you all for such a wonderful beginning to Second Grade. I am so thankful and appreciative for your students, who are hard-working, and for you, who are so supportive.
  • I wish you all a warm and blessed Thanksgiving break!
  • Picture Day is Tuesday, December 2. Even though it is a PE day, please have your child wear the winter uniform with PE shoes. The sweater is mandatory.
  • Winter uniform reminders:
  • School sweaters are mandatory on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
  • PE sweatshirts and sweatpants are mandatory on Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Girls: Navy blue socks or tights with the winter jumper
  • Boys: Navy or black socks with the navy pants and belt
  • Outside jackets do not replace the school sweater or PE sweatshirt.
  • In Math, we are working on double digit subtraction with and without regrouping. To make this transition easier, your child should be practicing math facts at home through 20. Limit counting on fingers and relying on number lines. Please use Freckle, IXL, or math flash cards to ensure math fact fluency.
  • If you do not notice your child reading a book at home, please encourage them to either take one home from school or go to the library. This helps promote positive reading at home for ARs to be completed at school.
  • A minimum of two ARs should be taken during the week, unless your child is reading a chapter book.
  • Homework completed at home should reflect your child's best work. Printing should be neat as if your child was completing it in school.
  • As your child's primary educator, please insist on neat work. Please ensure that no food, drinks, or oils are near homework. This is to promote the quality of the work at home.
